Georgia COVID-19 deaths see big drop

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia added 3,153 COVID-19 cases and two deaths Sunday for a total of 772,978 cases and 13,326 deaths.

GDPH reported the following cases in the Augusta area:

Richmond County added 10 cases for 17,476, Columbia County 17 for 9,958, Burke County one for 1,584, McDuffie County two for 1,501, Screven County four for 736, Wilkes County three for 617, Warren County two for 350, Jefferson County four for 1,478, Jenkins County one for 688 and Lincoln County two for 459. No new cases were reported for of Glascock and Taliaferro counties.

No new deaths were added for Augusta area counties.

Doctors Hospital of Augusta added two cases and released one inpatient, bringing the hospital to 703 cases and 36 inpatients, according to spokesman Kaden Jacobs.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported 2,357 cases and 33 deaths, bringing the state up to 412,996 cases and 6,849 deaths. Aiken County added 67 cases while Edgefield County added 17 cases to reach 2,164. Both districts’ death-tolls remained the same.
