AUGUSTA, Ga. – Richmond County investigators are looking into a Monday shooting at the Augusta Market convenience store on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The incident occurred at 4:48 p.m., according to a news release from sheriff’s office Sgt. William McCarty. Deputies responding to reports of shots fired and a person injured arrived to learn the victim had been transported by private vehicle to Augusta University Medical Center.
The male victim arrived at the hospital and was found to have suffered at least one gunshot wound, according to the report.
As of Monday evening, the identity and medical status of the victim were not known, but McCarty said in a follow-up report at 7 p.m. that the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening. No suspect description has been released.
