AUGUSTA, Ga. – A 1-year-old child died Monday after falling into a pond at an Aiken park, authorities say.
Paisley Hyatt was taken to the hospital from Carolina Bay Park on Price Avenue after the mother fell into the pond with the child around 4 p.m., according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
The coroner responded around 6 p.m. to Aiken Regional Medical Centers, where the child was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be performed Wednesday morning in Newberry. The Aiken Department of Public Safety and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are assisting in the investigation.
