Georgia, South Carolina remain around 1,000 cases

In the past year, Georgia has had 834,696 test positive for COVID-19 and 15,872 people have died.

Richmond County reported 13 cases for 18,935 while Columbia County had five for 10,653. Burke County reported three new cases for 1,698, and McDuffie, Jenkins, Jefferson and Glascock counties each added one new case. All remaining Augusta-area counties in Georgia did not report any new cases.

Two people died in Screven County making its death toll 20. Oe person died in Richmond County, which has lost 370 people to COVID-19. The area’s death toll stands at 968.

Doctor’s Hospital of Augusta added one positive case for 760 and remained at 19 in-house cases spokesman Kaden Jacobs said.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported 1,065 new cases for 454,158 and 28 new deaths for 7,842. Aiken County had nine cases for 12,327 and no deaths, Edgefield County reported three cases for 2,437.
