Georgia reports 702 COVID-19 cases, zero deaths

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia Department of Public Health reported 702 COVID-19 cases and zero deaths Sunday for a total of 868,163 cases and 17,214 deaths.

Statewide hospitalizations increased by 63 and admissions to intensive-care units went up by four to reach 60,403 hospitalizations and 9,879 ICU admissions.

Georgia’s percent-positive stands at approximately 10.8%.

GDPH reported very few new cases in the Augusta area:

Richmond County had 14 for 19,594, Columbia County nine for 10,925 and McDuffie County one for 1,641.

No new cases were reported in Burke, Jefferson, Jenkins, Wilkes, Warren, Lincoln, Screven, Glascock and Taliaferro counties.

No new deaths were reported in the Augusta area.

The only new hospitalizations in the area were two in Columbia County for 463.

Doctors Hospital of Augusta added one case and one in-patient for 787 cases and seven in-patients.

South Carolina reported 577 cases and 14 deaths for a total of 475,601 cases and 8,222 deaths, according to the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Aiken County rose nine cases to reach 12,679 but deaths remained at 176. Edgefield County reported one new case and one death to reach 2,533 cases and 29 deaths.

South Carolina’s percent-positive is down to 4.5%.
