Columbia and Richmond County schools see some of lowest numbers since school began

AUGUSTA, Ga. – As two school districts prepare for the last days of school, they are also reaching some of the lowest number of COVID-19 cases since the school year began. The Columbia County School District reported 10 cases while the Richmond County School System reported 31 cases this week.

Cases reported in Columbia County elementary schools:

  • Brookwood, one employee
  • Euchee Creek, one student
  • Lewiston, one student
  • Parkway, one student
  • River Ridge, one student

Cases reported in Columbia County middle schools:

  • Stallings Island, one student
  • Cases reported in Columbia County high schools:
  • Evans, one student
  • Grovetown, two students
  • Lakeside, one student

Cases reported in Columbia County high schools:

On Friday, Columbia County superintendent Dr. Steven Flynt announced that the district will no longer require vaccinated individuals to wear masks except those on a school bus.
