No new COVID deaths in Augusta area as Georgia sees decrease

AUGUSTA, Ga. – COVID-19 deaths in Georgia dipped below the previous three-day average of 76 Saturday with the Georgia Department of Public Health reporting 70 deaths for 16,487 and 10,054 cases for 848,859.

Richmond County reported 19 cases for 19,139 while Columbia County had six for 10,725. Jenkins County reported two for 715 and McDuffie, Screven and Wilkes each had one case for 1,614, 798 and 666 respectively. All remaining Augusta-area counties did not report any new cases.

With no additional deaths in the area, the death toll remains at 996.

Doctors Hospital of Augusta added one case for 772 and remained at 11 in-house patients spokesman Kaden Jacobs said.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported 814 new cases for 462,954 and added 11 deaths for 8,042. Aiken County added 10 cases for 12,451 and remained at 174 deaths. Edgefield County added four cases and remained at 28 deaths.
