AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says they are investigating a suspicious death that left one man dead in Augusta.
According to the corner, 65-year-old Franklin Jones was found unresponsive at the Budgetel Hotel 2051 on Gordon Highway. After being transported to Augusta University Medical Center, Franklin was later pronounced dead at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities say Jones was assaulted at another location prior to being found at the Budgetel Hotel. He’s expected to undergo an autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab.
