AUGUSTA, Ga. – An Augusta man pleaded guilty Wednesday to cruelty to children after his daughter’s injuries required the first-grader to be taken from school by ambulance to a hospital.

The child’s injuries, which covered her body, were discovered by school personnel, said Assistant District Attorney Sarah Strickland. The victim said her father stripped her and beat her with a belt, a beating that continued when she fell to the floor on May 16, 2017. It wasn’t the first time, the child said, the prosecutor told Judge Sheryl B. Jolly.

Jolly sentenced Andreas D. Daniel, 29, to two years in prison followed by three years on probation. He is not to have contact with the victim nor any child for the duration of his sentence.
