AUGUSTA, Ga. – Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and CSX Transportation are investigating a man’s death on the train tracks near Riverwatch Parkway and Claussen Road on Sunday.
Sgt. William McCarty said deputies responded to the area around 1:30 p.m. Thomas Jennings, 25, was walking on the railroad tracks when a train approached and he was struck.
Coroner Mark Bowen said Jennings was transported by emergency services to Augusta University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 2:17 p.m. He died from blunt force trauma and no autopsy will be done.
