AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia reported 3,000 COVID-19 cases and two deaths Sunday for a total of 749,867 cases and 12,570 deaths.
The Department of Public Health has not reported cases this low since Dec. 27 and this was the first time in the past week deaths were less than 50.
Statewide hospitalizations went up by 105 for 50,237 while admissions to intensive care units went up by nine for 8,399.
Georgia’s percent positive sits at approximately 11.3%.
GDPH reported the following cases in the Augusta area:
Richmond County added 85 cases for 16,936, Columbia County 51 for 9,668, Burke County eight for 1,547, McDuffie County five for 1,447, Jefferson County one for 1,436, Screven County two for 713, Jenkins County six for 675, Wilkes County three for 603, Warren County thee for 338 and Lincoln County one for 447.
No new cases were reported for Glascock and Taliaferro counties and No new deaths out of the Augusta area.
Richmond County added one hospitalization for 1,093 and Jefferson County had one for 132.
Doctors Hospital of Augusta diagnosed nine new cases to reach 686 but in-patients dropped by two for 61, according to spokesman Kaden Jacobs.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported 2,649 cases for a total of 396,712 and 23 deaths for a total of 6,355. Aiken County added 80 cases with no new deaths for 10,807 cases and 145 deaths. Edgefield County added 11 cases for 2,067 while the death-toll remains at 20.
